The builder is free to use: draw a machine, wire it and keep 3 designs on the Free plan. What is metered is solving, in compute tokens — Free comes with 250 a month, and a point solve of an ordinary machine costs one. The worked example buildings run on every plan, 3 times a day, at no cost in tokens. A year's run of your own machine or building is what the paid plans add.

Compute tokens meter everything: a point solve costs one token per ten components, so most machines are one, and a simulated year of that system costs ten times what solving it once does. A report is a solve too: it costs one for each design point it tabulates. No plan caps a system's size — a bigger system costs more tokens rather than being refused — and the engine itself takes up to 500 components.
