A telecom shelter where the economiser is the machine

A 20 m² equipment room with 3 kW of radios around the clock on one split; the winter week's coil duty is under 5 % of the summer's, on less electricity.

Ridge is one room, 3 kW of radios, 27 / 15 °C, no schedule, on the DX split with its economiser. There is nobody in it to count comfort for; what the case measures is how much of a Denver year outside air carries on its own.

The winter week's coil duty is under 5 % of the summer's, on less electricity — the fan carrying the economiser — and the room is held both weeks. On Denver's year the split reads 3.6 MWh at the coil for 4.6 MWh of electricity, the room 12.9–27.2 °C; the coldest night is beyond a reversed split with a shut damper, and nobody is there to mind.

The shelter found a control rule on the way: on a cooling hour when a box economises, the fans-only stage stays available after hours — free cooling is a fans-only stage, and dropping it sent an empty shelter's night-time calls straight to the compressor.
