Packaged rooftop with gas furnace, 3 m³/s

by HVAC Builder

Open this system in HVAC Builder Load it into the 3D builder, adjust it to your project, and solve it against your own climate — or drop it into a building model and simulate a full year.

A packaged rooftop unit: outside-air damper with an economiser, DX coil on four scroll compressors, a gas duct furnace at 80 % and a supply fan, on a two-fan air-cooled condenser. Its heat is gas — reported as fuel, never as electricity — which is what separates a rooftop's winter from a heat pump's. Published as an example; the figures below are solved from this model.

Example45–65 kW heating + coolingEU

Example system. Published by HVAC Builder to show suppliers what their own page looks like. There is no company behind it and it is not a product offer — the specification is generic and the performance is solved from the model on this page.

Design-point performance

58.1 kWcooling
16.3 kWelectrical power
3.56system COP

Solved from this example's own model each time the page loads — the same numbers a supplier's page shows for their machine.

Every air-coil refrigerant circuit here is reversible, so this machine is also a heat pump. Solved with the circuit running backwards at the standard air-to-air heating rating point — outdoor 7 °C dry bulb / 6 °C wet bulb, indoor 20 / 15 °C (EN 14511) — not at the supplier's own design conditions above, so the two ratings can be compared across machines.
