Nested system. A saved or published system placed into a design as one block showing its open ports; the solver flattens it. Systems can contain systems.
A saved or published system can be placed into another design as one block, wired at its open ports, and solved as part of the whole: a chiller nested inside a plant, an air handler nested inside a campus. The composition addresses a nested port as `unit/coil`, three levels deep at most, and the solver flattens the whole tree before solving so nothing is silently ignored — a composition with an unresolved reference is refused, never solved around.
A reference follows its source — edit the saved chiller and the plant that nests it changes — until it is copied in, at which point it is the design's own; it can also be exploded into plain components with the block's name kept as a prefix. A supplier publishes a composition flattened, and another supplier's offering may be nested only where its owner has allowed reuse.
